Who we are

Gentle Root Co ("we", "us") is a publisher based in Austin, Texas, USA. This website, gentlerootco (the "Site"), tells you about our journals and planners and lets you contact us or join our mailing list. This policy explains what information we collect through the Site, how we use it and the choices you have.

Information we collect

Information you give us. When you use the contact or wholesale forms we receive what you type: your name, email address, business name, country, and your message. When you join our mailing list we receive your email address.

Information collected automatically. Like almost every website, the Site's hosting provider records basic technical data when a page is requested: your IP address, browser type, device type, the page requested, the referring page and the time. We use this only in aggregate to keep the Site running and secure.

What we do not collect. We do not sell products directly on the Site and never see your payment details. Purchases happen on Amazon under Amazon's own privacy policy. We do not use advertising trackers or social-media pixels on the Site.

How we use it

• To answer your message and, for wholesale inquiries, to send pricing and line sheets.
• To send our newsletter if you signed up. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
• To keep the Site working, measure which pages are visited, and protect it from abuse.
• To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.

Services that process data for us

We rely on a small number of providers to run the Site. Each only receives the data needed for its job:

• Cloudflare hosts the Site, provides security and caching, and processes contact and wholesale form submissions through our Cloudflare Worker and Email Routing setup. It also processes request logs described above. Cloudflare privacy policy.
• Our email newsletter provider [name, e.g. Mailchimp] stores mailing-list addresses and sends our emails.
• Google Fonts serves the typefaces on the Site; your browser requests the font files from Google, which receives your IP address in the process. Google privacy policy.
• Amazon handles all purchases when you follow a "Shop" link. Amazon's terms and privacy policy apply from that point.

Cookies

The Site itself does not set tracking cookies. Cloudflare may set a small number of strictly necessary cookies for security. Our newsletter provider may set cookies on its own sign-up pages. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the Site will still work.

How long we keep information

Messages sent through the forms are kept for as long as needed to deal with your inquiry and for our records, typically no more than two years. Mailing-list addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Hosting logs are kept by Cloudflare for a short period according to its policies.

Your choices and rights

• Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email.
• Access, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing [contact email]. We will respond within 30 days.
• If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or California, you have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR or CCPA, including the right to object to processing and to complain to your local data-protection authority. We do not sell personal information as defined by the CCPA.

Children

The Site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
